Born on the scenic west coast of Newfoundland, Canada in 1977, Michael Jonathon Pittman has lived and travelled throughout North America and Europe. Discovering a penchant for the arts at a young age, Michael began his professional career as an artist after completing his Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual) degree at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2001.
In 2006, Michael completed a studio-based Masters Degree in Painting at the Waterford Institute of Technology in Ireland.
During his academic studies, Michael received numerous scholarships and awards, already having exhibited extensively outside of the school environment and with works present in many private and public collections. Michael continues to build a reputation as a talented, young artist.
With extensive training and experience in photography, printmaking, painting, sculpture and digital imaging, Michael's artwork is characterized by an eclectic mix of media and informed by a thorough knowledge of the history and theory of art-making practice.
